Meet Miranda Stewart Williams. Miranda is an experienced and talented nurse who has spent most of her career on the oncology floor at USA Health University Hospital. On this episode, she takes Dr. JYP behind the scenes to see what it's really like to be a frontline worker on a cancer ward. Plus, she shares her daily routines, the hardest and most rewarding parts of her job, how her life is nothing like those TV hospital dramas, and how she felt called to her profession.
- Oncology nursing is a very unique profession, even compared to nursing positions on other hospital floors and departments.
- COVID-19 restrictions have made in-patient cancer care more difficult for patients and their families. Many oncology nurses have become the main link between patients and their families.
- Oncology nurses are excellent resources for patients and caregivers for their latest medical results, information and doctor instructions.
- Oncology nurses spend many hours with their patients and create strong connections and close relationships.
